
Vintage Sterling Silver & Mother of Pearl Birth Record Month Year Baby Rattle Original Patina
Circa 1930s, possibly earlier.
Bail of silver bell/rattle has a belt buckle design. Front of bell reads “BIRTH RECORD”, featuring an embossed grandfather style clock and the words “MONTH” and “YEAR”. Typically, the baby’s birth month and year would be engraved somewhere on the front of the rattle, along with their name or initials on the back. This rattle is not engraved.
Bail of rattle and back of rattle are both stamped “STERLING”. No visible maker’s marks.
Measures approximately 3 inches long, in total.
Mother of pearl ring has an outer diameter of approximately 1.7 inches, and inner diameter (the space in the ring) of approximately 0.95 inch.
Weighs approximately 15.89 grams.
In good condition with no noticeable flaws. Silver is heavily patina’d and unpolished, but can be polished if you desire. Please see all photos.
