Vintage Queen Mary “M” of Scotland Scottish Luckenbooth Sterling Silver Pendant Necklace 16.75”
The Luckenbooth is one of the most romantic Scottish symbols of love, from the 17th century and often given as a token of betrothal, affection and friendship.
This pendant an open work Luckenbooth design with a large stylized "M" in the center to represent Mary Queen of Scots.
In addition to the large styled M this Luckenbooth includes the heart and crown - the "Heart & Crown of Scotland" and was romantically linked to the tragic Mary, Queen of Scots as it was the brooch she had given to Lord Darnley.
Chain measures approximately 16.75 inches long and has a spring ring clasp.
Clasp is marked “925 ITALY”.
Pendant measures approximately 1.4 inches long (including bail) by 0.75 inch wide (at widest point).
Back of pendant is stamped “925” and appears to have a maker’s mark, though we are unable to identify it.
Entire necklace weighs approximately 4.28 grams.
In great condition with no noticeable flaws. May have some patina as expected with age and wear, but can be polished if you desire. Please see all photos.
