Circa 1960s, Midcentury. Made in Germany.
Beautifully detailed gold vermeil sterling silver filigree butterfly brooch with multicolor enamel details.
Back of brooch is stamped “STERLING GERMANY” and appears to have a maker’s mark.
Unsigned but attributed to Alice Caviness (see photo of catalogue page).
Alice Caviness was a Long Island, New York jewelry designer who started a company of the same name in the 1940s. She retired in 1970 but her company continued making jewelry until 2000. Alice Caviness jewelry is known for its imaginative designs and high quality materials, Caviness pieces were originally sold in exclusive, high-end shops and boutiques.

Weighs approximately 11.39 grams.
