Vintage 1950s Signed Aksel Holmsen Norway Sterling Silver & Royal Blue Glass Enamel Butterfly Brooch Midcentury
Circa 1950s, Midcentury. Made in Norway.
Beautifully crafted in exceptional detail. Vibrant royal blue wings with a white body and black eyes.
Back of brooch is signed “NORWAY STERLING”, “925S”, and has maker’s mark for Aksel Holmsen.
Aksel Holmsen was a Norwegian jewellery maker. He trained in filigree work with David Andersen during 1889-92 . He went on to open his own silversmith workshop in 1904 in Oslo which became know for its modernist design aesthetic.
Measures approximately 1.9 inches long by 1 inch wide.
Weighs approximately 8.34 grams.
In excellent condition with no noticeable flaws. Silver may have some minor patina as expected with age & wear, but can be polished if you desire. Please see all photos.
