Vintage 1940s ROMA Italy Catholic Spina Christi Bead Rosary Double Wired Relic Crucifix 22”
Circa 1940s. Made in Italy.
Still has original foil tag that reads “DOUBLE WIRED ITALY INDÉCROCHABLE”.
Beads of rosary are made from Spina-Christi seeds (Zizyphus spina-christi, also know as the jujube tree) which have been used in rosaries since the 19th century. The seeds are said to be the thorny plant used to make Jesus' crown of thorns. The plants’ bushes can be found growing in the vicinity of Jerusalem. The beads are in good condition, still nice and glossy.
Crucifix opens to reveal a religious relic. Back of crucifix is stamped “ROMA ITALY”.
Measures approximately 22 inches long, from top to bottom.
Total of 59 beads.
In good condition with no noticeable flaws. Metal shows signs of wear/patina, as expected with age. Please see all photos.
